Sergiño Dest scored his first goal as an international of the United States on Thursday. The fullback signed for the opening goal in the exhibition game won against Jamaica (4-1).
Twenty-year-old Dest, who played as a left back, was played just over the halfway line in the 34th minute, cut after a dribble to his right leg and curled the ball from about 25 meters beautifully in the far corner.
In October 2019, Dest chose an international career with the United States over the Dutch national team. The former Ajax player, who was born in Almere, is the son of an American father and a Dutch mother. He therefore has both a Dutch and an American passport.
Dest was also accurate for the FC Barcelona of trainer Ronald Koeman last weekend. The youngster scored twice in the 1-6 game against Real Sociedad.
The United States eventually won the exhibition game against Jamaica 4-1. In the second half, Brenden Aaronson and twice Sebastian Lletget (for America) and Jamal Lowe (for Jamaica) were still accurate.
