D-day for Nicolas Sarkozy

During the whole trial, Nicolas Sarkozy and the National Financial Prosecutor’s Office (Pop) engaged in a rough duel. The latter required four years in prison, two of which were closed against the former President of the Republic, accused of attempting to bribe a magistrate for obtain confidential information about a file. Nicolas Sarkozy has always denied outright.

In the room on the second floor of the Paris court is played Monday March 1 the judicial future of the former head of state and a good part of his image. Whatever the judgment, part of the right has designated its target, the PNF and the methods of certain magistrates. “Today, I wonder if this inter-self of the National Financial Prosecutor’s Office is not creating a confinement which results in a form of judicial harassment”, commented Valérie Pécresse, the president of the Île-de-France region, Sunday February 28. Created in 2014, the PNF is at 248 convictions, including François Fillon, candidate of the right in the presidential election, who appealed.
