The boarded-up houses are gone, but it will not remain empty for long on the Deltastraat and the Van Hertsbekestraat in Bruinisse. Contractor Roggeband Bouw from Zierikzee will start next month with the construction of thirty life-course-proof homes at that location.
After more than six months, the 38 old rental homes of Zeeuwland have recently been demolished. The project was delayed because sparrows were nesting under the roof tiles. By hanging nest boxes, that problem has been solved and Bru gets his much-needed new rental homes.
Tenants still have to be patient. The housing project will run in two phases. The first twelve homes, eight on Deltastraat and four on Van Hertsbekestraat, are expected to be completed before the summer of 2022. After that, the construction of the other eighteen houses will start, which must be habitable by 2023, also in the summer.
Zeeuwland, including this project, is building at three locations in Bruinisse. A total of 47 homes will be built on OranjeDok and six homes will be completed next month on Noordstraat.
