Congo-Brazzaville: Denis Sassou Nguesso re-elected with 88.57% of the vote (provisional results)

                The outgoing president of Congo-Brazzaville, Denis Sassou Nguesso, was re-elected with 88.57% of the votes for a five-year term, according to the official provisional results of the Electoral Commission, announced by the Minister of the Interior.  Mr. Sassou Nguesso, 77 years old, including 36 in power, is well ahead of his main rival Guy-Brice Parfait Kolélas, who died on Monday (7.84%).  Official participation was 67.55%.
