What are the effects of confinement on weekends? The inhabitants of the coast of the Alpes-Maritimes and the agglomeration of Dunkirk (North) were subjected to it for more than a month.
Nice (Alpes-Maritimes) and Dunkirk (North) were subjected for more than a month to confinement at the weekend. But what are the effects observed one month after the introduction of this measure? The epidemic figures remain high but the dynamics have been reversed while the incidence rate at the national level is only increasing. At the hospital of Nice, this drop in the incidence rate at the local level is being felt. “We still have the impression that the flow entering intensive care has decreased compared to what we had in the previous weeks, which corresponds well to the drop in incidence.“, explains Carole Ichai, head of the anesthesia-intensive care unit at the CHU de Nice (Alpes-Maritimes).

In Dunkirk (North), a slight improvement in the health situation is also noted. But in the vaccination centers, the inhabitants do not necessarily see it. “There are a lot of cases around me, including a very serious case which is in intensive care“, says a resident, very moved. The improvement remains fragile at Nice as in Dunkirk. According to specialists, it should not mask an outbreak of cases everywhere else.
