China announced, yesterday, the imposition of sanctions against three personalities and one entity from Canada and the United States, in response to sanctions imposed by the two countries earlier this week against the background of Beijing’s dealings with the Muslim Uyghur minority.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry said that two members of the US Committee for International Religious Freedom, Gayle Manstein and Tony Perkins, in addition to Canadian Parliamentarian Michael Chung and the Canadian Parliamentary Committee for Human Rights, have become banned from entering the Chinese mainland, Macau and Hong Kong.
China’s decision comes a day after it imposed similar sanctions on British personalities and entities.
