Burned gas station, looted supermarket, violent clashes in Blois

Violent clashes took place this Tuesday evening in Blois, in Loir-et-Cher, franceinfo learned from close sources on Wednesday. The tension rose after the refusal to comply with a driver.

At around 6.30 p.m., the driver of a vehicle containing three people refused to submit to a police check. He ran a red light and hit two cars. The driver manages to escape, but his two passengers, aged 15 and 18, are seriously injured. The drivers of the two crashed cars were slightly injured.

Later in the evening, still in Blois, vehicles are set on fire and fireworks mortars are fired. Local police are calling for reinforcements from neighboring police stations and the gendarmes. A gas station is set on fire, a supermarket looted and a damaged nursery.

Around 11:30 p.m., a driver was attacked and his vehicle was thrown at the police who used their weapons, around 10 shots were fired according to a close source. No injuries were recorded on the sidelines of the clashes, no arrests were made.

The return to calm took place around 1 a.m., after the arrival of a mobile gendarmerie squadron. In all, the gendarmerie indicates having sent two mobile gendarmerie squadrons, 50 departmental gendarmes, a GIGN team and a helicopter.
