On Friday, Britain summoned the Chinese charge d’affaires in London to explain that the sanctions imposed by Beijing on a number of Britons were “unjustified and unacceptable.”
The Chinese Chargé d’Affairs, Yang Xiaoguang, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to meet with Minister of the Ministry Nigel Adams. China does not currently have an ambassador in London after the end of the term of its ambassador.
“The minister said that China has chosen to impose sanctions on individuals and entities seeking to shed light on human rights violations, and that these actions today will not divert attention from those flagrant violations taking place in Xinjiang,” the ministry said.
