Bayer Leverkusen’s free fall in the Bundesliga is not over yet. Peter Bosz’s team was blamed on Sunday by losing 3-0 to relegation candidate Hertha BSC.
Former FC Groningen defender Deyovaisio Zeefuik opened the score after four minutes with his first goal in German service. After just over half an hour it was already 3-0 by hits from Matheus Cunha and Jhon Cordoba.
Shortly after the break it even seemed to be 4-0, but the VAR rejected a goal from Dodi Lukebakio due to hands.
Jeremie Frimpong had a basic place at Leverkusen on Sunday. Daley Sinkgraven and Timothy Fosu-Mensah were missing due to injuries.
Leverkusen remained unbeaten for a long time in the first half of the season. Since the first defeat on December 19, only four of the seventeen games have been won by Bosz’s team.
The former leader has dropped to sixth place and must fear not to grab a ticket for European football. Hertha climbs out of the relegation zone due to the victory.
