The United States condemns the sanctions imposed by China on two American individuals due to the situation around the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, said US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
“The United States condemns the unreasonable sanctions of the PRC against two members of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom,” Blinken said in a statement on the State Department’s website.
According to him, it is obvious that the sanctions were imposed in response to US sanctions against Chinese officials associated with serious human rights violations in Xinjiang.
Earlier it became known that China is imposing sanctions against the United States and Canada in response to similar measures against Beijing, which were introduced under the pretext of “lies and misinformation” about human rights violations in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
