Bertens continues to struggle and also loses third party of 2021 in two sets | NOW

Kiki Bertens is still without a win after her third match in 2021. The number eleven in the world in the second round of the WTA tournament in Miami again in two sets. Arantxa Rus was eliminated by Maria Sakkari.

Qualifier Liudmila Samsonova (WTA-126) left Bertens no chance on the hard court in Florida. The Russian won after 56 minutes: 6-2 and 6-1.

Osaka wins first game since Australian Open

Naomi Osaka reached the third round by beating the Australian Ajla Tomljanovic: 7-6 (3) and 6-4. It was her first performance for the Japanese number two in the world since she won the final of the Australian Open more than a month ago.

“After not playing for quite a while I was a bit nervous,” said Osaka. “I made the wrong choice far too often. Maybe I would not have made it if there had been a third set. Fortunately I managed to prevent that.”
