Bo Bendsneyder immediately finished in points in his first race of the Moto2 season on Sunday. The Dutchman, who qualified third on Saturday, finished ninth at the Losail International Circuit.
The 22-year-old Bendsneyder rode his best qualifying ever in Moto2 on Saturday by recording the third fastest time. In the race he also started energetically, but the Rotterdammer lacked the speed to seriously compete for a podium place.
With his ninth place, Bendsneyder took seven points for the World Cup position. Last season, the Dutchman took a total of eighteen points, good for 23rd place. This year he rides for Pertamina Mandalika SAG Team, where he only signed in December.
The victory in Doha went to Briton Sam Lowes, who was already the fastest in free practice and started from pole. The podium was completed by Australian Remy Gardner (second) and Italian Fabio di Giannantonio (third).
Later on Sunday, the first MotoGP race is also scheduled in Doha. A week later there is another race in the capital of Qatar.
