Silver medalist of the 2002 Olympics, choreographer and stage director Ilya Averbukh commented on the results of the World Championship in Stockholm in men’s single skating.
“Of course, we need to congratulate our guys. They performed very well. Still, the competition in men’s single skating is prohibitive. But, firstly, we got back three quotas. Secondly, the debutant Evgeny Semenenko was not scared at all and performed with dignity. Many worried that he would not cope with his nerves. However, he did his job brilliantly. It is a pity that there was no European Championship this year. If you look at the standings, Mikhail Kolyada won the unofficial European Championship. Among European figure skaters, he became the best. Of course, our ambitions are progressing, this year we will see a completely different Mikhail. I am sure that he will add ”, – quotes Averbukh Sport24.
Russian figure skaters Mikhail Kolyada and Evgeny Semenenko took fifth and eighth places, respectively.
Earlier, Averbukh spoke about the mistake of Stepanova and Bukin in the rhythm dance at the World Cup.
