at Drancy high school, 22 classes closed due to Covid

REPORTAGECases of Covid-19 are increasing at the Eugène Delacroix high school in Drancy, in Seine-Saint-Denis. No less than 22 classes will be closed from Monday in this establishment, where at least 50 students have tested positive since the beginning of the month. “The academy inspector and his assistants will move around the establishment to take the full measure of things and discuss with the staff,” said Daniel Auverlot, rector of the Créteil academy on Sunday. The staff of the establishment wrote to Emmanuel Macron to demand the total closure of the establishment, without success.

“We lack material and human resources”

A refusal that regrets Clément, maths teacher, who points to the responsibility of National Education in the multiplication of cases. “We see today that the health protocol put in place by Jean-Michel Blanquer is very insufficient and does not prevent contamination,” he denounces at the miro of Europe 1.

This health protocol, too light according to him, is not even applied in his high school. “It is not applicable because there is a lack of human and material resources to enforce it. There was no hiring of supervisors to enforce the barrier gestures. We have a post and a half of nurse for 2,500. students. We obviously understand that it can’t work like that. ” With about thirty of his colleagues, he will exercise his right of withdrawal on Monday. A decision with no real impact since his class has just been closed, after one of his students tested positive for Covid-19.

“It’s permanent anguish”, confides a father of a student

These cascading closures worry high school students and parents. “In the morning, we have a lump in our stomach. We wonder if they will not come back contaminated and infect other people. Unfortunately, in my family, all four of us were infected with somewhat harsh tests. C ‘is permanent anguish, “says Denis, father of a high school student in Drancy.

The parents’ representatives are therefore asking for a massive testing campaign from the start of the week. The rector of Créteil has just granted their request: a large-scale screening will be carried out on Tuesday and Wednesday within the establishment.
