Apple would consider launching an extra sturdy version of its Apple Watch, reports Bloomberg Friday based on insiders. This version is specially designed for athletes and other athletes who use the watch in extreme conditions.
According to the news agency, the tech giant would like to release the new variant at the end of this year or next year. The watch, which would sometimes be called the ‘Explorer Edition’ among employees, is said to be more robust than regular models of the Apple Watch because of an extra strong housing.
The company would also investigate whether more swimming functions could be added to the new, more robust watch. The newer models of the Apple Watch are currently waterproof to a depth of 50 meters.
It is not the first time that Apple is considering releasing an extra sturdy version of the watch. That happened before, but was canceled then. The tech giant would now be interested again because the sale of extra sturdy watches from other brands has increased recently, according to the news agency.
