Almere City did good business on Friday in the battle for promotion to the Eredivisie. The number three of the Kitchen Champion Division won 2-0 against FC Den Bosch, while competitor De Graafschap drew against Excelsior and NAC Breda lost against FC Volendam (2-1).
De Graafschap is still second second behind leader SC Cambuur, which has three points more and only comes into action against FC Eindhoven on Monday. The numbers one and two will promote directly to the Eredivisie this season and there is only one ticket to be earned in the play-offs.
Almere City narrowed the deficit to De Graafschap to two points, with nine rounds to go. NAC has three points less than Almere and occupies fourth place
Almere had two goals in its own stadium more than enough for a victory over the last player from Den Bosch. Faris Hammouti opened the score just before half-time and Thomas Verheydt made it 2-0 after more than an hour on a pass from Hammouti.
