After noisy nights – streets are closed to traffic at night in Karlskoga

Starting already tonight, Värmlandsvägen, Kungsgatan and Bergmansgatan in Karlskoga will be closed between 23-05. The reason for the decision is that the problems with night traffic have escalated.

– We do not mind that you meet, but we have noticed that the meetings brought a lot of drunkenness, littering and reports of abuse that came in, says Jens Hedenborg, head of local police area Karlskoga.

Fear that problems will move to other places

The municipality of Karlskoga has, in consultation with the police, arrived at this measure.

– We will see what it gives or if the problems move to other places in Karlskoga. But the feeling is that something needs to be done, says Jens Hedenborg.

Karlskoga municipality’s security manager Jörgen Skog believes that this is a necessary measure.

– It is one thing to be disturbed by some music on the weekend, but when the weekend turns to include all days of the week and very late evenings and nights with very loud music, we must take action, he says.
