The notes of former scouts Kajsa Ollongren (D66) and Annemarie Jorritsma (VVD), recorded by a press photographer, were not a reflection of conversations by party leaders, but an “inventory from multiple angles, including reports in the media”. The new scouts, Tamara van Ark (VVD) and Wouter Koolmees (D66), write this in a letter to the Lower House on Friday.
Van Ark and Koolmees have had a conversation with the former scouts about the reconnaissance notes that were leaked on Thursday. It read, among other things: “position Omtzigt, function elsewhere”.
However, these notes are not notes of the conversations that the former scouts had with the party leaders, write Van Ark and Koolmees. The document is said to have been compiled on the basis of, among other things, media reports, and is intended as a preparation for the next round of discussions.
Van Ark and Koolmees say it is “very regrettable that a member of your House has become the subject of confidential consultation and subsequently of a public discussion in this way.” According to them, the incident should not have happened and this has earned trust.
Former scouts Ollongren and Jorritsma promised on Friday next week to explain the leaked notes to the House of Representatives after a majority of the House of Representatives, including CDA, VVD and D66, called for this. The MPs want an explanation of how they ended up on the document.
