a second CAN qualification in a row for Mauritania

Published on :

The Mauritania football team will play its second CAN final phase in a row after having validated its qualification on the lawn of the Central African Republic, 1-0. The Mourabitounes goal was scored by Aboubakar Kamara.

<p>They needed a draw to qualify. The Mauritanians did better by winning without trembling on the lawn of the Fauves de Centrafrique Tuesday during the sixth and final day of the CAN 2021 qualifiers in Group E. The CAR, which could also dream of a first qualification at the CAN, missed its meeting in front of a Mauritania which better approached this meeting under tension.

After having well managed the offensive tendencies of the Fauves at the start of the meeting, Corentin Martins’ men took their chances on one of their rare occasions to crucify their opponents. Aboubakar Kamara will indeed shower the Central Africans by scoring a precious goal in the stoppage of the first period (45 + 4). The Dijon striker sent his country for the second in the African Cup after their first participation in 2019.

There is therefore no longer any stake in the group’s other match between Morocco and Burundi (7 p.m. UT). The Atlas Lions are already qualified and assured of finishing first in the group, Burundi, for its part is definitively eliminated after the success of Mauritania.
