45,641 new cases have been identified in France over the past 24 hours

Some 45,641 new cases of Covid-19 have been detected in the past 24 hours in France, according to data released by Public Health France on Thursday March 25. The positive rate of the tests over the last seven days has increased to 8%. “The epidemic dynamic is strong”, underlined the Minister of Health Olivier Véran during a press conference.

The number of patients with Covid-19 in intensive care continued to increase on Thursday, reaching 4,709 patients in intensive care. This number comes close to the record for the second wave, which was 4,903 on November 16. Some 408 patients entered intensive care in the last 24 hours, against 384 on Wednesday. The total number of people hospitalized in France with a positive Covid-19 diagnosis stands at 27,036, with 1,860 new admissions in 24 hours. Public Health France recorded 228 deaths linked to the disease on Thursday, bringing the total toll to 93,405 deaths in the country since the start of the epidemic.

In terms of vaccination, 7,168,437 people received at least one first injection in France, or 10.7% of the French population. Of these, 2,610,990 received a second dose of vaccine.
