In conjunction with the month of reading, the UAE Board on Books for Young People organized, as part of the activities of the campaign «Read .. Dream .. Create», four reading sessions (remotely), for stories selected from the story collection «The Grateful Autumn», issued by the Sharjah Heritage Institute, and from Drawings by Emirati painter Abdullah Al Sharhan, which document tales from the Emirati oral heritage.
The sessions, presented by the authors: Nadia Al-Najjar, Noura Al-Khoury, Amira Boukadra and Maitha Al-Khayyat, were part of a series of activities organized by the Council during the month of reading, embodying its mission to encourage Emirati children to read books that are distinguished by their high literary and artistic standards, in order to achieve the goals of this month In motivating new generations to permanently embrace reading as a lifestyle.
Emirati writer Nadia Al-Najjar addressed the story of “Badiha Badihah” in the reading session that was devoted to students of Al-Risalah School in Sharjah. On the mechanisms of searching for folk stories and their roots, Emirati writer Amira Boukadara presented a discussion session for the story of “The Diver Salem” for the female students of Al Mataf Basic Education School.
In the reading session that the UAE Board on Books for Young People devoted to the story of “Hanfar Zafar”, Emirati writer Maitha Al Khayyat reviewed in front of female students from Al Mairid School, her beginnings in the world of writing and her interests in children’s literature, then she read to them the story of “Hanfar Zafar”, which she wrote in the story group “” An autumn tree. ”
