Almere City loses top match from Cambuur in front of 1,351 spectators | NOW

Almere City lost the top match in the Kitchen Champion Division against SC Cambuur on Sunday with 0-2. 1,351 spectators were present at the game.

Almere-Cambuur was the second game in professional football that was part of a Fieldlab test. With the support of the government, this organization is researching a way to organize events with the public again in the future.

Fans of Almere had to undergo a PCR test both before and afterwards to rule out that they are infected with the corona virus. There were 1,500 tickets available, but interest turned out to be slightly less.

Last week, NEC-De Graafschap (1-2) was the first game with an audience. Fieldlab will analyze the collected data from both duels over the next three weeks, after which the next steps will be examined.

In addition, Fieldlab held several events with the public earlier this month in the cultural sector. Several pilots are also planned for March.

The audience in Almere was divided into three different bubbles for the test.

Antonia makes only goal of the match

With the support of the noisy public, home club Almere sought the attack from the beginning on Sunday. Cambuur, however, had the greatest chance in the counter, but Kitchen Champion Division top scorer Robert Mühren pushed the ball wide.

Still, the Frisians took the lead shortly before half-time. Mühren headed through a corner and Jarchino Antonia worked the ball in at the far post: 0-1.

After the break, the leader had the game well under control. Both teams had limited opportunities and the decision was made shortly before time. This time it was Ragnar Oratmangoen who hit, headed from a corner: 0-2.

Thanks to the victory, Cambuur is doing excellent business with a view to promotion to the Eredivisie. The team from Leeuwarden is six points ahead of closest pursuer De Graafschap. Almere is the number three four points behind the team from Doetinchem, but has played one game less.
