According to Météo France, a “line of violent thunderstorms has just formed east of the Massif Central, it is moving rapidly towards the middle valley of the Rhône.”

A “intense heat peak over most of France, even very intense, more lasting from the middle valley of the Rhône to Savoies.” Saturday August 1, Météo France indicates that 13 departments in the South-East of metropolitan France are kept on orange heat wave alert: the Côte d’Or, Doubs, Jura, Saône-et-Loire, Loire, Haute- Loire, Rhône, Ain, Isère, Savoie, Haute-Savoie, Ardèche and Drôme.

Among them, Drôme, Ardèche, Rhône, Loire and Isère are also on orange alert for thunderstorms. The forecaster describes a “strongly stormy summer situation which requires special vigilance insofar as there is a high risk (a high probability) of a violent phenomenon.” This “a line of violent thunderstorms has just formed east of the Massif Central, it is moving rapidly towards the middle Rhône valley.”
