Police operation for a bomb alert in Quebec


A bomb threat led to a large-scale police operation in the vicinity of the Palais train station in Quebec on Tuesday evening.

According to the Service de police de la Ville de Québec (SPVQ), threats evoking a bomb in the area reached the police via the 911 center around 6:55 p.m.

“We didn’t take a chance. Quickly, several patrol officers converged on the Palais station in order to evacuate and erect a security perimeter, ”said David Pelletier, spokesperson for the SPVQ.

The canine unit was also deployed on site. After verification, the SPVQ was able to determine that the threat was not well-founded and everything returned to normal during the evening.

Witnesses were met by the SPVQ, confirmed Mr. Pelletier, but no arrests have been announced. The investigation is in the hands of the major crimes module of the Quebec police.
