The incident occurred at around 12:15 p.m. when a driver of a pickup truck swung toward the shoulder to avoid a slowdown in traffic. All without realizing that a cyclist in her twenties, Delphine Langevin, was circulating there.
The motorist then struck the back of the victim’s bicycle, which was thrown several meters. Even though she was wearing a helmet, the latter suffered serious injuries and had to be transported to a hospital, where her life was feared.
Sunday evening, the sister of the victim, Valérie Langevin, indicated on social networks that the young woman had succumbed to her injuries. According to her, the cyclist was halfway through a cycling trip around the Gaspé at the time of the impact.
On social networks, messages of sympathy were quick to pour in to support the family of the deceased, upset by the tragedy. Relatives also wanted to say a last goodbye to the young woman.
“Words fail me and the ones I have will never be powerful enough to describe the void you leave behind.” You will always remain for me a model of determination and joie de vivre! », Writes Rosalie Dostie, a friend and teammate of Delphine’s rugby.
“A passionate player, a golden friend and an incredible person. […] I will miss you and you will be in my heart forever, ”says Claudie Potvin.
Even the Rugby Quebec federation took the trouble to offer its condolences following the loss of a former player. “It is with great sadness that we learn of this terrible news. The whole community is very touched and we give all our support […] to Delphine’s family ”.
