When a child needs an ophthalmologist – MK Ryazan

The statistics of eye diseases in children are not encouraging. More than 50% of babies under 10 years old have vision problems. Children’s ophthalmologist of the Semashko OKB Maria Belova told when parents should show their child to a specialist.

The doctor noted that if the child often blinks, rubs his eyes, is capricious, experiences cramps in the eyes, experiences headaches, then it is better to make an appointment and check again.

The specialist recommends that schoolchildren visit a pediatric ophthalmologist at least once a year.

Maria Belova also advised parents not to give their children tablets and mobiles once again, replacing them with watching TV at a distance of about 2.5 meters. Children under two years old are better off watching cartoons for no more than 10-15 minutes. The physician recommended that parents spend more time with their children in the fresh air and play outdoor games.

The children’s ophthalmologist named products to improve vision:

  • Brussels sprouts;
  • broccoli;
  • carrot.
