Thailand will begin vaccinating priority groups this week – Prensa Latina

We will begin injecting target groups within three days of the vaccines arrival, the premier noted in a Facebook post.

Thailand will receive the first 200 thousand out of two million doses contracted to Sinovac Biotech on Wednesday, so it must begin its inoculation plan with the Chinese variant over the weekend.

The working group for Covid-19 recently indicated that more than half of these 200,000 vaccines will go to Samut Sakhon, the epicenter of the latest outbreak in Thailand, and the capital, Bangkok.

Prayuth assured that 800,000 more doses will arrive in March and the remaining million in April, some of which will be used for second inoculations in priority groups.

He added that 26 million doses of vaccines of the British variant AstraZeneca, which has authorized a Thai company to make its vaccine, will be ready between May and June.

Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul commented that Thailand will also receive 117,000 imported doses of AstraZeneca on Wednesday, out of a total of another 35 million agreed with the United Kingdom.

The Asian nation is aiming to deliver 10 million doses a month starting in June, when its mass vaccination campaign is in full swing.
