Britain and Germany criticize Xinjiang Uyghur human rights abuse Chinese “negative attack”

Reuters reported that Britain and Germany criticized China’s repression of minority ethnic groups and China denied it as a “neglectic attack.”

British Foreign Minister Dominic Rab criticized at the UN Human Rights Council in China’s Xinjiang Autonomous Region that torture, forced labor and abortion against Muslim Uighurs are being carried out on an “industrial scale”.

German Foreign Minister Haiko Mas also added to the criticism that “Our commitment to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights does not leave room for arbitrary detention of minorities such as the Xinjiang Uyghurs or China’s suppression of the freedom of Hong Kong citizens.”

However, Wang Yi, the Chinese Foreign Affairs Commissioner and Minister of Foreign Affairs, countered that there are 24,000 mosques in Xinjiang and that all nations are enjoying freedom of work.

“These basic facts show that so-called genocide, forced labor, and religious oppression have never occurred in Xinjiang,” said Wang said. “These inflammatory accusations are fabricated from ignorance and prejudice and are not true.”

He also argued that the Uighur camps were needed to provide vocational training and combat extremism, and that the Xinjiang region “has achieved a socially stable and sound development” over the past four years without terrorist incidents.

He added that “the door to Xinjiang is always open” to the visitation investigation underway by the UN Human Rights Office.

However, it is reported that Wang did not comment on the specific schedule.
