Balance of the Covid-19 situation in Chile: there are 2,356 new cases and 25 deaths registered in the last 24 hours


The Ministry of Health delivered on Tuesday a new balance of the Covid-19 situation in Chile.

Minister Enrique Paris noted that “2,356 new cases are reported, of which 29% originate from active case search (BAC) and 29% of those notified are asymptomatic. As for the Metropolitan Region, it presents 31% due to BAC and 36% of the notified cases are asymptomatic ”.

” The variation of new confirmed cases at the national level decreases 2% during the last week and eight percent in the last 14 days,” he added. The Secretary of State also said that “11 regions decrease their cases in the last seven days and ten in the last 14 days ”.

Meanwhile, the Los Ríos region has the highest incidence rate in the country per 100,000 inhabitants. While the regions with the highest increase in new confirmed cases in the last seven days are: Valparaíso, Arica and Parinacota, Coquimbo and Metropolitana.

Of the 2,356 new cases of Covid-19, 1,563 correspond to symptomatic people, 648 do not present symptoms and 145 positive PCR tests were registered that were not notified. The total number of people who have been diagnosed in the country reaches 805,317.

Of this total, 20,848 patients are in the active stage and there are 763,904 recovered cases.

As for deaths, according to the information provided by the Department of Health Statistics and Information (DEIS), in the last 24 hours there were 25 deaths. The total number of deceased amounts to 20,151 in the country.

To date, 1,640 people are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units, of which 1,408 are on mechanical ventilation support. Regarding the Integrated Health Network, there is a total of 186 critical beds available.

31,486 PCR tests have been performed in the last 24 hours, reaching a total of 9,123,413 to date.
