Melbourne Stars’ Adam Zampa fined and cops ban for poor use of words in match against Sydney Thunder

#Gun #Melbourne #Stars leg-spinner #Adam #Zampa has been slapped with a $2500 fine and is set to miss his side’s first #Big #Bash #League clash of 2021 after copping a one-match ban for an on-field “audible obscenity”.

#Cricket #Australia today released a statement confirming the #Australia international had been suspended after a costly use of words in the #Stars’ 75-run loss to the #Sydney #Thunder at #Manuka #Oval on #Tuesday night, in which a stump mic caught him saying “f**k me”.

#It happened when #Thunder batsman #Callum #Ferguson played a cut-shot to deep cover and set off between the wickets to pile on even more runs in an already expensive over.

#Zampa will miss the #Stars’ match against the #Hobart #Hurricanes at #Bellerive #Oval on #Saturday, before returning to face the #Hurricanes at the #Tasmanian venue next #Monday.

#In last season’s BBL tournament, #Zampa wasn’t suspended but received a $2500 fine for a similar offence.

#Melbourne are sitting in fifth on the BBL10 table with two wins from five games.

#Zampa has taken seven wickets at an average of 18.57 in four games, and has conceded 8.12 runs per over.
