The latest #Apple rumor of 2020 is for foldable iPhones. #Economic #Daily #News claims two types of prototypes were made by #Foxconn for #Apple.
#One would be based on the principle of two screens brought together by a hinge, probably in the manner of what #Microsoft did with its #Surface #Duo. #This is not the first time we have heard of such an approach, between rumors of last summer and patents in 2016.
The other prototype would use conversely a single but foldable screen, such as those used by #Samsung. #It would also be a clamshell model, which we have seen concretely with the #Galaxy Z #Flip or a new version of the #Motorola #Razr. #This supposed iPhone would have a foldable OLED screen and, again, this fall we lent #Samsung #Display the role of supplier of a large order of these flexible panels for #Apple.
#As to whether #Apple will ever launch such smartphones, #Economic #Daily #News is hardly moving forward and instead expects a delay of at least two more years. #It must be said that on the #Android side, the rare phones with foldable screens remain first and foremost curiosities produced in low volumes compared to conventional smartphones. #But #Samsung is expected to launch a new range in the coming months, convinced that it has something for the long term.
