#Possible, look to the future with enthusiasm, hope and conviction? A new documentary series is betting it does, by presenting shining examples of fair, just and responsible avenues, full of humanity, accessible and easy to follow, on top of that. #Do you want some inspiring ideas? #Here’s !
#Let’s say that it is timely. #Citizen 2.0, presented on #Unis TV from next week (but partially online from 1is #January, notice to interested parties), should also surprise (pleasantly) many. #Is it the tone, the rhythm or the good humor that emerges, still it is that this series of 13 episodes, focusing broadly on the future of our planet, overconsumption and our relations does not hide its party taken committed and optimistic. #You read that right: the future with rose-colored glasses, in a way. #Let’s say it clashes. A terribly welcome freshness in these depressing times. #And we are not talking here (that) of the pandemic.
“We’re drowning in bad news, all the time, every day. #It’s infinite, what, ”confirms the director #François-Xavier #De #Ruydts in a telephone interview. #Think global warming, resource depletion, or social injustice, “and now with COVID-19 it’s even worse,” he says. #But once all of this has been said (and repeated), what do we do? #How do we change? #Where do we start? These answers are lacking. #Cruelly, he found.
#Hence the series, therefore, which comes in 13 episodes, and as many challenges and especially solutions proposed, with more than fifty speakers (known or not at all) all more inspiring than the others . #From the zero-waste mother to the organizer of outdoor festive days, including the founder of a time bank (literally), the cases presented here come from all over #Canada, touching all the questions you can imagine. (local purchase, urbanity, solidarity) and, it should be noted (and this is not innocent), always present themselves to the camera smiling. “People who move in a good mood and joy! #It is not a dark path of deprivation, insists the director. #On the contrary ! #We all aim for a gay future. ”
#That’s what we need, a positive image of our future that makes us want to get up in the morning!
#François-Xavier #De #Ruydts, director of #Citizen 2.0
#That said, be careful. There is no question here of denying the problems of the planet. #On the contrary. #Each episode begins with a detailed portrait of the state of affairs. #For example: the episode “#Living without waste” reminds us that the average #Canadian generates 700 kg of waste per year, that is 200 kg more than any other citizen on the planet (including the #United #States). “#Today, on our planet, there are too many reasons to be discouraged”, also says #Laurence #Latreille, in the narration, by way of introduction, at the beginning of each episode. “But I don’t want to fold my arms, so I went looking for inspiration,” she continues immediately. #People who consume smarter, invest ethically, or live more socially. #Note: the choice of the young actress (we saw in #Runaway, among others) is not fortuitous here either. #Coming from this “sensitive generation”, says the director, these young people “need to hear this message. ”
“We don’t realize the power we have as citizens. #We can change things, at our level, ”he insists. #To the skeptics who will see here only a small drop of water of noble intentions in an ocean of ecological disasters, he replies: “It is not true. There are a lot of us. #We do this together, and we start to gain weight, he says. #If we all agree and we all go in the same direction, we will take big steps. #And it’s contagious! ”
#Any advice to change the world for the better? “Work less”, concludes #François-Xavier #De #Ruydts, without the slightest hesitation. #Because who says working less means spending less, or better. “And when we work less, we have more time. #And time is so much more important than money… ”
#Citizen 2.0, a production of #Reign #Films, will air on #Unis TV every #Wednesday at 8 p.m. starting #January 6. #First episodes online from 1is #January.
