The Bundesliga restart is currently targeted in mid-May. However, a few carefree professionals from Hertha BSC disrupt this project very sensitively.
Handshakes with colleagues, in pairs at the Corona test – and the camera is running all the time: Two days before the decisive political meeting about a resumption of the Bundesliga, professionals from Hertha BSC have done a disservice to football. In a self-recorded Facebook video, Salomon Kalou showed how he greets teammates and club employees with a handshake. In sensitive times, a blatant violation of the distance rules to contain the pandemic.
The reaction of the German Football League (DFL) was not long in coming. “The pictures of Salomon Kalou from the cabin of Hertha BSC are absolutely unacceptable,” it said in a message: “There can be no tolerance for this – also with regard to players and clubs who adhere to the guidelines because they are serious of the situation. ”
Bundesliga restart? Kalou’s video is coming out of time
The behavior of the Ivorian and his colleagues in the cabin is also water for the mills of all those who find the plan for football to start again anyway carefree – and who suspect that the rules are rather lax behind closed doors.
For the DFL, the video is therefore out of time. The 36 professional clubs hope for a continuation of the first two leagues in May, for which an extensive hygiene concept has been developed. On the basis of this document, the Federal Government and the country heads are to advise on Wednesday about a return to the season. However, meticulous adherence to the concept is a prerequisite for everything else.
“Sala, delete the video”
Kalou’s video also shows a Hertha employee taking a smear from central defender Jordan Torunarigha. The employee seems to recognize the seriousness of the situation, at the end of the 25-minute stream he shouts: “Sala, delete the video, please!” The association was initially unavailable for comment.
The game has been suspended in the Bundesliga since mid-March. To SIDThe DFL is planning information for a resumption on May 15 and, in addition to a lot of approval, is also experiencing headwinds from politics and society. Kalou’s video should not have relaxed the situation now.
