(CNN) — Katy Perry is honest about their mental health issues in a new interview.

It was during the radio program, canadian “Q on CBC” where the pop superstar revealed that he suffered a collapse and was considered to take his life after his split from Orlando Bloom in 2017 and the low sales of their albums.

Perry, whose given name is Katheryn Hudson, said that he was “wallowing” in their “own sadness” after hitting rock bottom in his personal and professional life.

“I lost my smile”, said the artist born in California, the presenter Tom Power. “I don’t know if my smile ever was completely true, but I was in the top for a long time. I had the validation, the love and the admiration of the outside world, and then that changed.”

The judge of “American Idol,” which has since been reconciled with Bloom and waiting for her first child with him, said that seeing how his career took a downward trajectory had an impact, “seismic,” and added: “Literally, split me in half.”

“I separated from my boyfriend, who is now the future father of my baby, and then was excited to fly high with the next album, but I don’t like rose so much. The validation is not raised me, so that I fell,” recalled the singer of 35 years.

During a sincere conversation, Perry —whose parents were evangelical pastors when I was little— described the experience as a “break needed” and added that he believes that gratitude saved my life.

“It was very important quebrarme, to be able to find my integrity in a completely different way. And find another dimension, that just to live my life as a pop star thirsty all the time,” he said.

“Gratitude is probably what saved my life, because if I had not discovered that I would have wallowed in my own sadness and I probably would have jumped, but I found the way to be grateful”.

She added that her faith helped her to recover. After browsing through the depression and anxiety for years, he said, now has a different perspective of life.

“The hope has always been an option for me due to my relationship with God and to something bigger than myself. If I’m the only one that controls my destiny, of course I’m going to drive it into the ground,” he said.

“My hope is that something bigger that I have created for a purpose and I have created for a reason, and that I am not disposable, and that, you know, every person that has been created has a purpose.”

This is not the first time Perry speaks out about her mental health problems.

In 2017, broadcast live a session with the therapist Siri Sat Nam Singh in YouTube as part of the series “the Therapist” of Vice. During the conversation, Perry admitted that she felt “ashamed of feeling so depressed”.

“I’m really strong as Katy Perry, and sometimes I’m not as strong as Katheryn Hudson,” he said at the time.
