Brian Pallister predicts easing of health restrictions in 2021 | Coronavirus

#Code red, for critique, currently in effect across the province, expires on #January 8. #At that point, health authorities must decide whether to renew the prescriptions.

These include a ban on gatherings between households, the closure of places of worship, theaters, sports halls, non-essential shops and the closure of bars and restaurants to customers.

#Stay cautious and motivated

#On #Wednesday, a reporter asked #Brian #Pallister if the province will ease health regulations in the first three months of 2021.

I believe easing restrictions are almost certain, replied the #Prime #Minister.

I’m really, really sure, as a former coach, teacher, parent, and a person with common sense, that we need to be very, very careful and diligent, and motivated by concern and compassion for those who are most vulnerable., he adds.

#Brian #Pallister said the province could ease restrictions as long as #Manitobans are disciplined enough to obey health orders.

#He suggests #Manitobans have demonstrated this discipline in eight of the ten months so far that the pandemic has lasted.

The premier adds that the province will come up with some ideas next week to seek public input.

#Declining statistics, a sign of improvement

#On #Tuesday, the day before #Brian #Pallister’s intervention, the province’s deputy chief medical officer of health, #Dr #Jazz #Atwal, said he expected restrictions to be in place for several more months.

#Frankly, I don’t see us removing all of our restrictions in the near future, did he declare.

#When we look at the immunization schedule, when we look at how long it will take to vaccinate most #Manitobans, we are talking about months and months., he added.

The province’s chief medical officer of health, #Dr. #Brent #Roussin, has previously said #Manitoba cannot relax its health regulations without a reduction in the number of hospitalizations, the positivity rate of screening tests and the daily number of cases. of COVID-19.

#All three indicators are down at the end of #December.

#As of #Wednesday, #Manitoba had 337 hospitalized patients with COVID-19, a drop from the province’s peak of 398.

The seven-day average of the number of new daily cases of the disease is 163. #By the end of #November, that number had risen to 424.

The province’s five-day test-positivity rate is 12.6 percent, a relative drop from its peak in #Wave 2, but a statistic that remains four times higher than the target rate, below 3 percent.
