Morocco: Meeting of the advisory committee for the authorization of the anti-Covid-19 vaccine

#She also noted that the #British #Medicines and #Health #Products #Regulatory #Agency has given the green light for the marketing of this vaccine, noting that #Morocco has adopted the WHO procedure relating to the authorization to use the vaccine in a health emergency context.

#For his part, the director of the virology laboratory of the #Hassan II #University of #Casablanca #Moulay #Mustapha #Ennaji, underlined that the scientific exchanges of the commission make it possible to exhaustively study the various information relating to the #AstraZeneca vaccine, in particular the pharmaceutical data. and manufacturing processes. “The committee will make a final decision on this vaccine as soon as possible,” #Ennaji said.

#For his part, the director of the biotechnology laboratory of the #Faculty of #Medicine and #Pharmacy of #Rabat, #Azeddine #Ibrahimi recalled the certification and authorization of the use of #Sinopharm and #AstraZeneca vaccines by the governments of their countries of origin, stressing that the national commission is studying the data of the #AstraZeneca vaccine with a view to making the appropriate decision in full transparency.

#As a reminder, #Morocco has ordered 65 million doses of the two vaccines. 25 million were ordered from #AstraZeneca and 40 million from the #Chinese, #Sinopharm.

#In front of the parliament, the #Moroccan #Minister of #Health, #Khalid #Ait #Taleb affirmed that “the preparations reached very advanced stages. #Field exercises, covering all stages of the citizen vaccination process, have been put in place ”.

#Thus, a vaccination strategy was put in place at the national, regional and local levels. #On the human resources side, professionals in the health sector will be supported if necessary by other teams (military, private sector, red crescent). A computer system has been developed to ensure the proper management of the vaccination campaign (flow of vaccines, field management, monitoring of possible side effects, etc.).

The vaccination campaign will give priority to staff on the front line, in particular health staff, public authorities, law enforcement, national education staff as well as the elderly and vulnerable. #After this first step, #Morocco will give itself three months to vaccinate 80% of #Moroccans over 18, or 20 million people, on a voluntary basis.

#To date, #Morocco has 439,193 confirmed cases of #Covid-19, including 7,388 deaths and 407,504 remissions, according to the daily bulletin of the #Ministry of #Health.
