Outbreak of COVID-19 cases to end the year in Quebec

The CIUSSS de la #Capitale-Nationale has counted 9 additional deaths on its territory, for a total of 687 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

#In #Chaudière-Appalaches, 134 people have tested positive over the past 24 hours. A new death is also recorded, for a total of 186.

#Meanwhile, the vaccination campaign continues. #In the greater #Quebec #City region, 5,599 doses of #Pfizer-BioNTech’s vaccine against COVID-19 have been administered since #December 14.

#On the #South #Shore, it is rather 1058 people who have been vaccinated since #December 23, the vaccination campaign having started later.

#Even if the vaccination brings a glimmer of hope this holiday season, public health reiterates the importance of protecting yourself against the virus, even after being vaccinated.

#As soon as the outbreak broke out on #December 6, the CIUSSS de la #Capitale-Nationale set up a mission team on the same day to quickly come to the aid of this establishment., emphasizes spokesperson Mélanie #Otis.

CIUSSS employees are therefore on site to support the residence in terms of care, prevention and infection control, in particular. A hot zone has also been established to properly contain infected residents and identify dedicated care teams to prevent staff movement.

The CIUSSS will remain on site for as long as necessary. #This is the mandate of our teams wherever the CIUSSS has been called in to assist, and this since the start of the pandemic., she adds.
