“Hope is there, in this vaccine”

#Published on :

#Emmanuel #Macron presented his wishes to the #French at the end of a particularly trying year, marked by an unprecedented epidemic which will continue to shake up the presidential agenda in 2021. #He returned to the health crisis and the exemplary paths of those who have fought against #Covid-19.

#After a particularly trying year 2020 due to the #Covid-19 pandemic, #President #Emmanuel #Macron addressed the #French on #Thursday, #December 31, during the traditional speech for the end of the year greetings.

The #Head of #State returned to the health crisis that has impacted the country’s daily life since #March. “#Our #Nation has gone through this year with great unity and great resilience,” he summed up. “#We made the right choices at the right times,” he added, while having a thought for the 64,000 deceased victims of the virus.

#Emmanuel #Macron then cited the example of nine everyday heroes who faced the #Covid-19 crisis, including caregivers, garbage collectors, teachers or athletes. “#Exemplary courses which are so many compasses for the years to come”, he explained. “#All these faces are those of hope, those of #France“”.

“The first months of 2021 will be difficult”

#He recalled that “the first months of 2021 will be difficult” as the country faces an upsurge in contamination. #For #Emmanuel #Macron, the return to normal will not happen before spring.

#Faced with the pandemic, the president insisted that “hope is there in the vaccine”. #He promised to avoid “unjustified slowness” in the vaccination campaign, responding to those who consider it too slow, especially compared to #Germany. #He also assured that he would not let “anyone play with safety and the good conditions, supervised by our scientists and our doctors, in which the vaccination must be done”.

#Regarding the economy, weakened by the crisis, he estimated that the 2021 revival “will allow us, from the spring, to invent a stronger economy”. #It should be “all at the same time creating jobs, more innovative, more respectful of the climate and biodiversity and more united”.

The president also spoke of the #United #Kingdom’s exit from the #European #Union on #December 31. #For him, despite #Brexit, he remains “our friend and our ally”. “#This choice to leave #Europe, this #Brexit, was the child of #European malaise and a lot of lies and false promises,” he said.
