The #National #Office for #Electricity and #Drinking #Water (ONEE), #Moroccan agency for sustainable energy “MASEN” and the private developer of the 850 MW #Integrated #Wind #Program signed on #Thursday in #Rabat the contracts relating to the #Jbel wind farm #Lahdid (#Essaouira) with a capacity of 270 MW.

The contracts were signed by the director general of ONEE, #Abderrahim #El #Hafidi, and by representatives of the private developer #Nareva holding and #Enel #Green #Power SPA (#Italy), in the presence of the #Minister of #Energy, #Mines and ‘#Environment, #Aziz #Rabbah.

#According to a press release from the #Ministry of #Energy, #Mines and the #Environment, the #Jbel #Lahdid wind farm, with an installed capacity of 270 MW, is located about 25 km northeast of the city of #Essaouira and will mobilize an investment of around 2.8 billion dirhams. #Third park in the 850 MW #Integrated #Wind #Program, its gradual commissioning is scheduled from the first half of 2023.

The 850 MW #Integrated #Wind #Program, made up of the “Midelt – 210 MW”, “Boujdour – 300 MW”, “Jbel #Lahdid- 270 MW”, and “Tiskrad- in #Tarfaya – 100 MW” wind farms, constitutes an important component of the national energy strategy, the objective of which is to reach 52% of the installed electrical power based on renewable energy by 2030.

#This project is being developed within the framework of private electricity production, made up of the #Nareva #Holding (#Morocco) and #Enel #Green #Power consortium.

#Thus, the “Nareva #Holding – #Enel #Green #Power” consortium, associated with the manufacturer of wind turbines “Siemens #Gamesa #Renewables (#Germany)” won, in 2016, the international call for tenders for the development, design, financing, the construction, operation and maintenance of the 850 MW #Integrated #Wind #Program.

#This structuring project has also enabled the emergence of a #Moroccan wind industry, notably through the establishment in #Tangier, by the aforementioned manufacturer, of a blade production plant, with an annual capacity of approximately 600 units (the equivalent of more than 600 MW / year).

The estimated global electricity production of the 850 MW #Integrated #Wind #Program will save around 2,380,000 tonnes of CO2 / year, which would be equivalent to the consumption of a city the size of #Casablanca.
