Championship: Derby County did not pay its players but …

#As the #Derby #County club’s sale process dragged on, the players were reportedly not paid on time in #December.

The #Telegraph reports that the #Derby #County club did not pay their players in #December due to the #English club’s sale process. #But sources insist the takeover by #Derventio #Holdings is expected to be completed shortly. #And that the players would then see their salaries regularized.

The sale formalized this #Thursday?

#Mel #Morris, the current owner of #Derby #County, currently 20th in the #Championship standings, has agreed to sell his club to #Derventio #Holdings, a company owned by #Sheikh #Khaled bin #Zayed #Al #Nehayan, who is none other than the cousin of the owner of #Manchester #City, #Sheikh #Mansour. The sale could be formalized in the next few hours and regularized wages suggest the #British media.

#Wayne #Rooney confirmed as manager?

#Once the club changes hands, it will be up to the new owners to confirm or not the managerial position to #Wayne #Rooney. The former #Manchester #United scorer, who arrived in #Derby #County as an assistant coach-player, took the place of #Philippe #Cocu, sacked a few weeks ago. #Under #Rooney’s leadership, the club went from 24th to 20th place.
