#In its projections of hospital needs updated on #Thursday, INESSS underlines that nearly two-thirds of beds devoted to COVID-19 are currently occupied in the greater #Montreal area.

#With hospitalizations expected to increase significantly in the coming weeks, INESSS affirms for the first time that it is “likely” (more than 50% probability) that there is an overflow in these hospitals. here the next three weeks.

#In other regions, nearly 60% of beds reserved for patients with COVID-19 are filled. #Although the situation remains stable, exceeding capacity is not impossible in certain sectors, underlines INESSS.

#On social networks, the #Minister of #Health #Christian #Dubé took note of the INESSS report.

“#Unfortunately, if the trend continues, this will have to be compensated in particular by additional offloading of non-COVID treatments in our hospitals,” he said.

The institute also updated its information on the risk of hospitalization according to data from #December 21 to 27. #During this period, an increase in hospitalizations of 5% was observed.

The increase in hospitalizations is evident in virtually all age groups, with the exception of young people (0 to 17 years old) and older people (80 years and over), for whom it is more modest.

“The number of planned hospitalizations remains high, just like the previous week (678 versus 666),” said INESSS in its press release.
