#In a statement on #Thursday, #Cricket #Australia confirmed #Zampa had been suspended for one BBL match after accepting a charge for an “audible obscenity” during his side’s 75-runs loss to the #Sydney #Thunder on #Tuesday, in which #Zampa took 3-49 before making 23 runs with the bat.
#At the end of the 16th over of the #Thunder’s innings, gun batsman #Callum #Ferguson cut a short and wide delivery from #Zampa to deep cover for a single. #As the #Thunder batsmen jogged between the wickets, #Zampa, who’d just seen a teammate’s misfield cost the #Star four runs the ball before, appeared to utter “f*** me”.

CA said #Zampa had accepted a penalty of one suspension point and a $2500 fine after being found guilty of a #Level 1 offence under the organisation’s #Code of #Conduct.
#It means #Zampa will miss the #Stars’ next BBL clash, which is against the #Hobart #Hurricanes on #January 2.
The 28-year-old has taken seven wickets in this summer’s BBL to date, which is the second-most by a #Stars player, and the team’s highest wicket-tacker of all-time with 60 scalps.
#Zampa has been a key member of #Australia’s limited-overs, highlighted by the fact he took at least one wicket in each of the #Aussies’ six recent matches — three ODI’s and three T20I’s — against #India.
The #Stars, who’ve never won a BBL title and finished runners-up the past two seasons, have won just two of their five BBL games so far this summer and sit fifth on the table.
